Beyonce & Jay-Z | baby Blue Ivy gets some special visitors (Saturday Night Live)
Hard to pick a favorite here…Jay-Z, Taylor, Bon Iver, Brangelina. Again, good show.
Plus…Sleigh Bells, who I give credit to for making a non-tv friendly music style actually work ok. Oh and for all the girls who love me from afar and are reading this…I dig the tattoos.

The Jeremy Lin Problem - NYTimes.com →
Sorry, Mr. Brooks, this one isn’t doing it for me.
Being a competitive and even dominating athlete in your particular field doesn’t seem to me to be in real conflict with faith. Recognizing, or even lying to yourself that you are the greatest athlete on the field does not also inherently require you to think you are the greatest person on the field as well. Not buying it sir.

The only thing of value in this is watching both Derick and Alexis try really hard not to smile, from nerves I’m assuming. Derick actually is giggling when Maya moves attention to them at the end of the first. Might have a text book in my lap but I’m definitely watching tonight.

– Ira Glass, in response to Kurt Braunohler’s comment, “I do have a theory now. I do have a theory about if I do get married in the future. What I think I would want to do is have an agreement that at the end of seven years, we have to get remarried in order for the marriage to continue. But at the...

Right to Remain Silent | This American Life →
Listen to this (Part 2 at least). If I know you personally I will probably ask you whether you’ve listened to this before we talk, until you have. I noted on Twitter that my criminal law pals are probably familiar with this…but even as defense oriented as I am, I wasn’t ready for Act Two.
Oh, and since a ton of cops (or wannabe cops…poel) read this blog you should check...

I know I’ve linked to a “making of” on Sleigh Bells before but this is great and adds some other info. Love the band and its members.
AND…for an unknown limited amount of time you can stream the new album from the link.

– Circuit Judge ILANA DIAMOND ROVNER with the greatest concurrence ever. Written to agree with the majority which decided that an upward departure (more years on the sentence) was proper in regard to a defendant who quite clearly did not care about the safety of others.

Marc Dreier: The Swindler →
A depressing and incredible story about “the mini Madoff.” Watched this in my White Collar Crime class and was surprised by his honesty in the interview. It’s quite the story of the ability of a man working hard when you consider his conclusion regarding all the irons he had in the fire. Unbelievable and worth a watch.

Questions or Comments on Posts
I’m getting questions from people that are a mix of weird, unintelligible, and even flirty (admittedly only one). They’re anonymous and over all not interesting enough to share. Keep it up…but do better. Thanks. I’ll address/answer them if they’re good unless I think they’re all from my mother.

Rough situation for Hamilton but the tone of the article struck me more. The issue is only loosely baseball related and the author goes a lot further into it than how it relates to baseball.

Today, Representative Giffords finished the event she had begun before being shot in Tucson last year. Such a great story and good to see her appear so undaunted by the events of that day.

Billy Cundiff Rushed His Kick Because Of An Error... →
Another football related post but I definitely noticed this last night while watching the game. I figured I’d overlooked other games in the past and the timing of the field goal unit but it certainly appeared as if the kicker was the only one that didn’t know they were going to attempt a kick initially. The missed kick is still on Cundiff but this gives some context to how he could...

Editorial: Supreme Court needs to know seeing is... →
The article is a bit inflammatory, the end especially. But from all I have read, seen myself, and heard from those involved in the Innocence Project in particular, eyewitness IDs are not near as effective as people expect or wish. There’s too much information out there saying we just get it wrong. I had hoped SCOTUS would make a different ruing.
Better article here.

Does Jesus Hate Religion? Kinda, Sorta, Not Really... →
I almost linked the video directly, then figured I didn’t want someone to simply watch this and move on so here’s the link instead. I saw it a couple days ago and realized I’d only be hateful and dismissive in a response. How about reclaiming the Christian “religion” which gives us our history and an incredible amount of wisdom from far greater minds than our own? I...
